COMMITTEES

First Presbyterian Church of Fairbanks has a Session, which are the ruling elders, and a Board of Deacons. Session can have up to 15 members and the Board of Deacons can have up to 12 members.

The Session operates on a committee structure. These are the areas of responsibility:

Worship
Elders Carol Miller and Jerry Cleworth are responsible for regular worship life of the church - i.e. ushers, greeters, offering, communion, music, care of sanctuary, special services, etc.

Stewardship
Elder Jim Malingowski conducts the financial stewardship campaign and helps the congregation grow in their stewardship of time, talents, and financial resources.

Outreach
Elder Dave Dreydoppel directs the Outreach Ministry. Through education, special events, and advertising this committee invites, welcomes and involves newcomers to the church.

Nominating

Special Projects
Elder Jim Aldrich heads the new ministry area of First Presbyterian. One of the first special projects is an outreach to the community that includes dinner and special interest events as well as a time for healing prayer and soaking in the Spirit.

The office of Deacon is set forth in scripture as one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the duty of Deacons first of all to minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless and any that are in distress. The Board of Deacons is structured with officers and commissions to carry out their work.

The board currently consists of the following members: Susan Kalen, Brian Lawhead, Jeanne Maddux, Lonny Marney, Michele Marney, Lily Miller, Terry Reichardt, Jack Schnurr, Chelsea Walker, Gary Walker, Jim Williams and Norma Wivoda.
